What is Oreo?

Oreo is a brand of sandwich cookie consisting of two wafers with a sweet creme filling. Are Oreos vegan or vegetarian?
The Oreo brand was first introduced by Nabisco on  March 6, 1912, and Mondelez International has held both Nabisco and the Oreo 
brand since 2012 as result of number of business purchases, mergers, and splits.  More than hundred nations sell Oreo cookies. Limited-edition runs of Oreo cookies have grown in popularity in the twenty-first century, and they come in a variety of flavors.

Are Oreos vegan?

According to OREO, the ingredients used in OREO cookies are suitable for a vegan diet according to the current production status as well as according to OREO’s specifications. Exceptions are the products OREO Enrobed White and OREO Crunchies Dipped (which contain skim milk powder). However, OREO cannot completely rule out the possibility that the products come into contact with milk during production. Therefore, it is best to always read the list of ingredients and allergy information on the packaging when buying.

Are Oreos gluten-free?

Unfortunately not. OREO cookies contain wheat and are therefore not suitable for a gluten-free diet.

How to eat Oreos?

The possibilities to enjoy OREO are almost endless and there is no “right” or “wrong”. The well-known OREO ritual, i.e. untwisting the cookie, licking the cream, and dipping the cookie in milk, was invented by OREO fans in the USA and this has become established over time.
