Harvest has started: The first strawberries are ripe

In my childhood, strawberry jam was an indispensable part of my breakfast.

On a small, fresh piece of bread, a bit of strawberry jam with pieces of strawberry. . .

I remembered this taste, when I was on the way from Como Lake to Zürich. I visited a small village near Interlaken
a saw a small strawberry picking farm. I picked a kg strawberries, brought to my frinds house and made some strawberry jam.
It was very delicious.
I would like to show you how to make strawberry jam with no pectin.

Ingredients (for a small batch)

  • 500 gr strawberris
  • 1 cup sugar (200 gr)
  • 2 drops of lemon juice

That’s it 🙂

Preparation:

Step 1.

Wash the strawberries and half or quarter them.

Step 2.

Place the strawberries in a small pot and add sugar.

Cover the berries with sugar as you can see in the picture. Close the lid and wait 3 hours at least.

After 3 hours it will look like this:

Step 3.

Place the pot on medium-high heat until mixture comes to a boil. When the mixture boils, reduce the heat immediately.

Step 4.

Cook over low heat for 30-40 minutes, until the consistency of a loose jam. Stir occasionally and remove the bubbles.

Step 5.

After 30-40 minutes, add 2-3 drops of a lemon juice, remove from the heat and let it cool for 30 minutes before you transfer it to a jar.

This is the best strawberry jam recipe.

Bon Appétit 🙂
