Easy hummus recipe! What is hummus and how to make it?

Hummus is flavorful Middle Eastern dip made with cooked, mashed chickpeas combined with tahini, lemon juice, and garlic. 

Olive oil, few whole chickpeas, parsley, and paprika are common Middle Eastern garnishes. 
It’s commonly served as dip with pita bread in Middle Eastern cuisine.

Let’s make hummus!

Ingredients (2-3 servings)


  • 800 gr canned chickpeas
  • 100 gr tahini
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • Juice of 2 lemons
  • 100 ml water
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon chili flakes
  • 4-5 olive oil

  1. Wash the chickpeas, place them in boiling water and cook for 4-5 minutes.
  2. Place the chickpeas in a blender and add garlic cloves, tahini, lemon juice, 100 ml water, salt, cumin.
  3. Puree for 4-5 minutes.
  4. Transfer the dip to a serving plate, drizzle with oil and serve with your favourite bread.
