Since you visit this blog, you are probably vegan or vegetarian. Many of us choose this lifestyle because of our love for animals and our deep empathy. If you are vegan or vegetarian for animals, you will probably find it emotionally very difficult to leave your pet home alone on vacation or to leave it with a neighbor. But you don’t have to do it. You can fly with your pet. In this article, we would like to give you information about traveling with dogs and cats and Turkish Airlines pet policy.

Turkish Airlines’ success is growing day by day. Turkish Airlines has been awarded the 5-star global airline award by the American aviation rating agency AviRate in 2018. Turkish Airlines, which offers a quality and safe service, of course, could not do without thinking about animals. As a frequent traveler myself, I try to prefer Turkish Airlines every time I fly. The prices are affordable and they do not compromise on quality service.

Turkish Airlines Pet Policy

Traveling with dogs and cats can be a bit tiring. Believe me, it’s not just for you. Traveling is also stressful for dogs and cats. They’re not used to it either. As an animal lover, I can imagine that you are definitely thinking not only about your own comfort but also about the comfort of your pet. Don’t we already see our pets as our own children? Let us take a look at the Turkish Airlines pet policy.

Fees for carrying pets on domestic Turkish Airlines flights

Pet transportation is subject to fees and is not included in the free baggage allowance. Pet transportation costs and rules on AnadoluJet flights are subject to change. To learn more, take a look at the price list.

Traveling with dogs and cats on international Turkish Airlines flights

Also for international flights, pet transportation is subject to fees and is not included in the free baggage allowance.

Regardless of the passenger’s free baggage allotment, the pet is weighed along with its crate. According to the table below, the pet fee is computed by multiplying the price per kg.

Per box or container, there is an additional baggage fee. A customer carrying two cats in one crate (container) on a flight from Istanbul to Frankfurt, for instance, will have the container and the two cats weighed. The passenger is charged based on multiplying the pet fee per kilogram by 8 if the combined weight of the crate and the cats does not exceed that amount.

Traveling with dogs and cats to/from Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus

You need to have import permission from the TRNC Veterinary Office in order to bring pets on flights to or from the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. This license is good for 60 days. Additionally, you need to get a travel health certificate from your nation’s veterinary directorate at least 48 hours before you leave.

You must carry the vaccination record for your dog or cat in your possession. Parvo, Distemper, Hepatitis, and Leptospirosis vaccinations are required for dogs, whereas feline influenza and feline infectious enteritis immunizations are required for cats.
The pet must have received its rabies vaccination no more than a year prior to the journey and at least one month beforehand.
Additionally, you must bring an authentic test report demonstrating the blood antibody levels of your cat against rabies in order to travel with your cat or dog. For more information, please visit http://www.veteriner.gov.ct.tr.

Of course, you don’t have to choose only Turkish Airlines. For an extra cost, the majority of airlines will let you bring a cat or small dog in the cabin. There are restrictions on the number of animals permitted in the cabin, so you must call the airline well in advance.
Make sure your dog complies with the criteria for size if you are moving them.

Please note that this information is subject to change at any time. For better information, please contact the airline or visit the website.
