Of course, for someofus, it is not easy to give up beer or a glass of wine in the evening. And then also the dessert or the chocolate. But there is a good reason for this: triglycerides are formed in the body primarily from excess sugar and alcohol.

A generally low-fat diet is also advisable – this will come as no surprise to you – if you want to lower the triglycerides in your blood. But there are not only prohibitions. There are also delicious things that are expressly recommended for high triglyceride levels.

  • Diet high in fiber: fruits, vegetables and whole grains
  • mineral water or tea instead of sweet sodas
  • fresh fruit instead of canned or dried fruit
  • vegetable oil instead of butter when cooking
  • plenty of fresh fish, especially sea fish with omega-3 fatty acids
  • and, unfortunately, also: avoid sweets and alcohol to a large extent.

Avoid foods that are high in saturated and trans fats, such as fatty meats, fried foods, and processed snacks. Instead, choose foods that are rich in fiber, like fruits, vegetables, and whole grains, and foods that are high in omega-3 fatty acids, like fatty fish.

Is it true that vegans have high triglycerides?

If we look at the information we have described above, we will see that high triglyceride levels have nothing to do with the vegan diet. Anyone who does not pay attention to their diet and lifestyle can have high triglycerides.
