I would like to share with you this mind-blowing and easy Turkish pogaca recipe. This recipe will be one of your favorite stuffed dumplings recipes. I am sure of it.

You only need the following simple ingredients to create these famous and delicious stuffed dumplings that you can enjoy with your black tea:

  • 500 gr organic flour. You can order your organic flour on Amazon.
  • 150 gr yoghurt
  • 100 ml sunflower oil
  • 2 egg whites
  • 100 gr kashkaval chesse/gouda cheese or feta cheese
  • 20 gr of fresh and chopped parsley
  • 2 packs (30 g) of baking powder
  • 2 egg yolks

For this recipe, we will use cheese for the filling. However, you can fill your dumplings with black olives, or cooked potatoes with onions, black pepper, and salt, which is very common in Turkey. I will show you how to prepare these fillings in another post.

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 200°C = 392°F. In a bowl, combine 2 egg whites, 1 egg yolk, and sunflower oil. Mix well with a whisk.

  2. Add flour, baking powder, and fresh parsley. Mix again. Keep kneading the mixture until you have a smooth dough.

  3. Make balls of dough about the size of an apricot.

  4. Press the balls down on a surface to flatten them, place the desired filling into the middle. Fold the circle in half over the filling so the edges come together and pinch them closed very gently. Shape a ball.

  5. Place the "balls" on a baking tray.

  6. With a brush, coat the top of each roll with egg yolk and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the pogacas are golden brown.

  7. Your delicious pogacas are ready to enjoy. you can serve them with black tea.

Note

  • If you use feta cheese for the filling, you do not have to add salt.
  •  Try to use organic products.
