Last week I saw the recipe on another food blog and I had to think about my childhood. Honestly, I can’t remember the last time I ate these. Why did I do this to myself? One must not forget such a simple and very tasty dessert. These macaroons are flourless and naturally gluten-free. You have to put it on your gluten-free dessert recipes list.
Let’s take a closer look at our ingredients!
Ingredients for Coconut Macaroons With Chocolate
Shredded Coconut
You need 250 g unsweetened shredded coconut.
Sugar
Some recipes say that you should add 1 cup of sugar. Please DO NOT DO THIS!!! You only need 100 g sugar.
Cinnamon
We need 1/2 tablespoon of cinnamon.
Egg whites
As always, we will use organic eggs. We only need three egg whites. If you are vegan, you can add flaxseed egg.
Your favorite chocolate
I do not like the taste of the chocolate chips. I will use my favorite chocolate (with almonds). I suggest you use your favorite chocolate, too. As we only want to dip the macaroons in the chocolate, 100 g is enough.
Salt
Salt has the ability to enhance flavors and balance desserts that are rich and sweet. We only need 1/2 tablespoon of salt.
Vanilla extract
Vanilla extract is optional.
Pistachios and Almonds for the Topping
You need 10 almonds and 10 pistachios.
That is it!
