Turkish Breakfast Recipes | Menemen Recipe
If you have ever been to Turkey and tried Turkish breakfast there, you must have seen or eaten Menemen. This is a very common dish that is consumed by breakfast. If you want to learn about Turkish Breakfast Recipes or prepare Turkish Breakfast Recipes for your guests or your partner, you must have Menemen on your list. This recipe is the best Menemen recipe. It is very easy and it takes 20 minutes to prepare it.
The preparation of Menemen is very variable and roughly corresponds to other egg dishes such as the German farmer’s breakfast, scrambled eggs with vegetables, or an omelet. The onions are heated in melted butter or olive oil, then the peppers, chili peppers, and chopped tomatoes are added. Once the tomatoes are soft, add an egg or two per serving. The eggs are whisked and should be fully cooked but not allowed to dry out. Common additions are cheese, especially the feta-like white cheese (beyaz peynir), and sausage, such as the Turkish garlic sausage Sucuk. White bread is usually served with Menemen.
The main ingredients of Menemen are actually eggs, tomatoes, salt, chili flakes, oil, and green pointed pepper. But if you search the internet for Menemen recipes, you will find that ingredients are subject to change. For example, if you see a group of people in Turkey talking about Menemen and the ingredients, you’re guaranteed to hear that they can’t agree on whether to prepare Menemen with or without yellow onions:). I prefer the version with yellow onion, and today I would like to share with you this version.
