What is vegan butter made out of ?
There are some animal products that even some vegans find very difficult to do without. I also hear and read very often that many vegetarians want to eat vegan, but can not do without cheese and butter. Therefore, mankind must produce the best vegan butter substitute as quickly as possible. But, what is vegan butter made out of?
What is vegan butter made out of?
Different fats can be used to make vegan butter. Rapeseed or sunflower oil, as well as coconut, palm, or shea fat, are frequently utilized. A distinct fat quality emerges from the items depending on their makeup.
First, a type of buttermilk is made by stirring a dash of apple cider vinegar into a plant-based milk substitute such as unsweetened soy or oat drink and letting it stand for ten minutes. This causes the plant-based drink to curdle a bit and take on a tartness. In the meantime, gently heat refined coconut oil in a small saucepan until melted
Mix the liquid fat with some canola oil and the prepared milk substitute in a bowl. Add turmeric or a dash of carrot juice for the typical golden color and yeast flakes for a savory to slightly cheesy flavor. Depending on your taste, you can further refine the spread with fresh herbs, salt, onions and garlic.
Blend all ingredients with a blender until a homogeneous and creamy mixture is formed. Pour into an airtight screw-top jar and refrigerate the spread for at least an hour or overnight. Refrigerated, the butter substitute will keep for up to two weeks and can also be frozen in small silicone molds.
Can you make vegane butter with olive oil?
Yes, you can. Take a look at my vegan recipes to discover delicious vegan recipes.
How to make vegan butter with olive oil? You need 100 g coconut fat hard, 50 ml olive oil, 50 ml corn oil, 1-2 pinch salt and 1/4 teaspoon of tutmeric.
Heat the coconut fat and oils until the coconut fat is melted, remove from heat and stir in salt and turmeric well.
Put the mixture in the refrigerator for about 2-2 1/2 hrs until the oil is no longer translucent and is already slightly hard around the edges. Then put everything in the blender and mix for about 3-5 minutes until the amount is nicely blended and has also become more. Then fill and chill in the refrigerator.
Vegan butter vs margarine
The cholesterol content of margarine is much lower than that of normal butter. However, vegetable fat is often artificially hydrogenated and therefore contains many unhealthy trans fatty acids, which you should avoid if possible. Margarine contains less saturated fatty acids and more unsaturated fatty acids.
What about vegan butter? Is vegan butter healthier then margarine? Yes, it is. As you can see in the above-mentioned recipe, you can prepare vegan butter with olive oil and have a healthy and delicious version of butter.
In the meantime, there are numerous vegan alternatives for butter that do not cause animal suffering and are in no way inferior to their predecessor in terms of taste. You can also find vegan margarine in every supermarket and discount store.
